Favorite Judge In A Movie?

There have been so many memorable courtroom scenes in movies of all kinds; drama, comedy, farce. Often it's not the lawyers doing battle that we remember but the Judge (usually in a small part).

Here are my top five:

Gene Lockhart/Miracle on 34th Street
Fred Gwynne/My Cousin Vinnie
Joseph N. Welsh/Anatomy Of A Murder
Harry Morgan/Inherit The Wind
Spencer Tracy/Judgment At Nurenberg

How many other 80s comedies have held up as well as Beverly Hills Cop, Ruthless People, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High?

How often does a judge character remain in your mind years after you've seen the movie? Just testifies to Gwynne's awesomeness.

My favorite attempt? When he took Pacino out flying in a
helicopter, calculated the half-way point-of-no-return for
fuel consumption and exceeded that by a coupla minutes
before turning around.

because I was wondering what he thought of the role. He played it perfectly, of course, much like Fred Gwynne in "My Cousin Vinny". By the way, if you have the DVD or can rent it, watch with the commentary turned on. It's easily as funny as the movie!

He was priceless in that one.

Edward Winter (Col. Flagg from M*A*S*H*) was also great as Raymond Torkenson.
