I have an Aussie and a border collie. We feed them twice per day at the same time and if we forget they will remind us, always about 10 minutes either side of the designated time.
As smart as they are, they still havent figured out Central Standard Time vs Central Daylight Time and theres always an adjustment period.

I looked at her, sitting innocently on the dresser, with an expression that seemed to say, 'Oh! Is it time for you to get up and give me treats already?'

(10,429 posts)DOg and cat get main meals "soon" after I get up, and "soon" after I get home in the evening. So I guess I'm lucky that they never had an exact time to get used to.
