Prolly belongs in Reading forum, but I wanted to gripe to the largest possible audience. Why, after 24 years of online ordering/borrowing, has no STABLE CODING GENIUS ever thought to include a Sort by Series Order option? Every time I purchase or borrow a book in a series, I have to open a separate WikiPedia page about the series so I know which one comes next. HOW FREAKING HARD CAN IT BE???
Edit: I mean books of course, not TV series. Doh.

(7,329 posts)I'll come across a book that is part of a series. Sometimes there will be no clue as to where this fits.

(33,002 posts)If the title, author and date of publication are the only info given, doesn't the year tell you what order the books were published? That's how I usually sort them anyway.
If you use Calibre for managing ebooks and viewing/converting ebooks - then Calibre does have a sort-by-series-order option. However the user may have to enter the series info him(her)self because it may not be included in the metadata.

(3,396 posts)Publication date is often not synonymous with series order, especially given editions, versions, format, etc.
