Can we honor someone before they pass for a change? Post your favorite Tim Conway clip.

I grew up with Tim, on the TV. The Carrol Burnett Show ran from '67 to '78. Being born in '71, it was a staple in my house. And for years after it ended, well into my teens, there were reruns (much like MASH). So yeah, man. I grew up with Tim Conway. He made me laugh til I had tears running down my face, much like he did to his own costars. He informed my own vision of what was comedy, and more importantly, how the mundane could be funny.

Tim, thanks decades of laughs. I salute you, man. I wish you a quick recovery, or a quick and painless end. Whichever is most appropriate.

Now lets laugh, yeah?

And of course, the infamous Siamese Elephant bit...

Goddamn. I got tears running down my face again! Safe travels brother. Safe travels.... i look forward to meeting you on the other side.

The skit was Tim as a doddering old fireman and Harvey as a snooty millionaire who's mansion had just caught fire. The more Harvey was alarmed, the slower Tim got. At one point, Tim goes out the window, fire hose and all, to a crash landing. Harvey runs to the window and begins to shout, "Are you all right?" Tim interrupts with, "I'm falling!" I thought for a moment Harvey was going to fall out the window, too.

and that truly next nothing away from the talents of each of them individually.

How sad that his comedic mind and immense talent has been ravaged by Alzheimers. I was heartened to see that Bob Newhart and wife are looking in on him.

We will always remember for you, Tim.

I remember seeing The Dentist when it first aired on the Carol Burnett Show. My mother and the rest of the family were damn near rolling around on the floor laughing.

And, I still usually laugh out loud every time I see his Elephant story.

I was first introduced to him when I was about 7-8 years old. One of my local stations aired old Carol Burnett shows in the late afternoon, so I watched them after school. LOVED that show even when I was a little guy! Tim Conway was hilarious in them.

They had a tremendous chemistry together and tried to make each other laugh.

When they messed up, it was just as funny because they made fun of the screwups.

Flip Wilson is the owner of a diner, Tim Conway a truck driver, and Bing Crosby a plumber in this sketch from the 3/16/72 Flip Wilson Show.

were ad-libs. Either he didn't fully participate in rehearsal or just waited until taping to purposely try and break up the cast, particularly Harvey Korman (who himself was rather difficult yet he was my favorite). The Old Man and Mr. Tudball were classics!

Growing up Saturday nights on CBS were epic for comedies. All in the Family/M*A*S*H/Mary Tyler Moore/Bob Newhart/Carol Burnett.

Sad to hear he has dementia. It's a horrible and not at all funny way to go.

I was too little to get the dry humor of Bob Newhart and Mary Tyler Moore was a little over my head too. But now? Good god. Newhart's deadpan! and Ted Night alone. Man that stuff is funny.

Yeah I watch both of those shows now and appreciate them all the more for their humor.

My father had a dry sense of humor, so I got an early start!
