Eagles Greatest Hits now #1

Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) album has replaced Michael Jackson's "Thriller" album as the number-one selling album in history, according to the Recording Industry Association of America. The album has now sold more than 38 million copies, compared to 33 million for "Thriller". And their "Hotel California" album is ranked #3 on the all-time list.

Nah, I love the fuckin' Eagles, but it's hard to pass up posting a gratuitous Big Lebowski reference.

They sounded fantastic!!!

They had Glenn Fry's son filling in him, they had Vince Gill singing with them ... absolutely wonderful evening ... they came close to filling the stadium that the Dolphins play in.

My housemates in Dallas (I'm here for 3 days) have two sons, and one of them turns out to be a friend of Don Henly's son, who is apparently a good enough guitarist to fill in with the Eagles from time to time. Now THAT would be a gig I would have moved back to Texas permanently for!

Loved them in their day but seem pretty out of hip-hop step these days. Even for us from old LA CA.

Witchy Woman. Really cool vocals on that one. And it has that big clanging part, and then the soft falsetto thing so the change of gears is awesome.

I admit that some of the stuff where they felt obligated to let Leadon play banjo ain't my thing, but a great deal of the other stuff i like molto.

Professional production. Excellent sound.

Usually with these well-aged reunions you expect them to sound, well, "older". But after all those years, getting out of practice, they sounded actually better than their classic sounds, e.g. guitar riffs opening Hotel California. The only other groups I've seen do that are the Bee Gees, of all people, and Roger Daltrey with the Who.

...I saw Bowie as Aladdin Sane, The Thin White, Serious Moonlight, and then just Dave with a killer band withe Reznor and Belew sharing the bill.
The older he got, the better they were
With the skilled and serious, I think it's common to be better than ever before the technical kills erode. Nobody escapes that!

Given the thread, the worst Eagles did, was I said above, Witchy.
Except the lyrics say he actually LOVES the witchy woman!
My wife isn't a witch. 39 years ago, she might have well been one! She captured me! No complaints!
