(10,252 posts)Shellfish are either mollusks (e.g. clams, oysters) or crustaceans (e.g. crabs, shrimp). Fish have vertebrae, an internal skeleton with a backbone. Shellfish do not. Shellfish are exoskeleton-bearing aquatic invertebrates.
