It wasn't about the gambling, we went to see the beautiful - and sometimes famous - horses!

And always went to Oaklawn for derby day. We never bet and also saw some famous memorable races! Wish we still lived there to see American Pharaoh win the AR derby and then go on to win the triple crown...his offspring should start showing up next year...love that you love the ponies too!

Secretariat came to Saratoga when I was a kid and I was desperate to go and see him. But the crowds were tremendous - even worse than on regular racing days - and my Dad wouldn't take me, though he had loaned the news people a bucket truck/"cherry picker" so they could get above the crowds to film him. I always regretted that missed opportunity to see the champion in person.

I just can't bring myself to watch one. I hope all stay safe and healthy, but I've heard too many horror stories about pain killers & steroids, etc to force them to run when they shouldn't.

Wet blanket, out.
