It was almost surely going to be cancelled, and even the writers wrote the season ending episode as a series finale.

I'll keep this cryptic for anyone who didn't see my spoiler warning, but waiting until next summer makes perfect sense, even if we have to wait an entire year before if comes back. Otherwise, they'd have to figure out how to have a show with only half the cast! And they'd have to figure out which half to keep!

11. It stopped being fun after the first season.

The first season, it seemed like the characters were having fun saving the world on a regular basis.

Those British kids were just the cutest things ever, inventing stuff, and saying things like: "Thanks awfully!"

Starting in Season Two, it just got too dark, too un-fun. Too much 'Hail Hydra'. Too much 'the conspiracy goes deeper than you know...'

I shook my head sadly and changed the channel...

14. Agree with you. Love the show, but I enjoyed the banter and lighter theme.

Jemma and Fitz had a nice vibe going, Daisy was light hearted, Coulson was always good for a quip. May was always the serious one. Maybe because they all had to overcome really terrible experiences and their "save the world" mission was so critical the show definitely went to the dark side. Still like it. Glad Grant is gone,couldn't stand him and sorry Yo-yo lost her hands.
