It's more pop than early Garth Brooks, Patty Loveless, Alan Jackson, etc. but I would compare it to that high quality.

This is the tune that put her on the map back in I think was around 2012 ... pretty much made her 'the country singer for people who don't usually like country' ... the reason for that will be obvious when you listen to the words ...

Namely, cool people.

Though IMHO there's been lots of cool country if you knew where to look ... stretches back at least as far as Nashville Skyline & Sweetheart of the Rodeo albums, continued with Gram Parsons, Emmylou, Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, etc.

Nowaday us hipsters call this form 'alt-country' or 'Americana', so we don't have to admit 'we like country'.

I'm not normally a country fan, but she came up in a random Amazon music playlist and I liked her lyrics.

I haven't heard her new album yet (waiting until it comes to Prime streaming-- the big ones take about 6 months) but her album Pageant Material is really good.
