I often see in Cover Girl commercials. I was surprised to know she's Elon Musk's mother, Maye Musk. I was even more surprised to know she's 68, because to me, she looks older than that. Maybe it's her silver hair, or maybe it's all that makeup. I'm 74 and would feel ridiculous gussied up to look glamorous. But that's me. Eek. Go Maye, though. To each her own.

(12,153 posts)don't dress frumpy, but I don't want to appear to be trying too hard and end up looking pathetic. I wouldn't have wanted to when I was a mere 68 either.
Here's how I'd look:

And yeah, that pic is a bit scary!

(43,146 posts)The family is modeling now, seeking their 15 minutes of fame too?
This really has become a culture of a cult of personality.

Looking at her made me smile in appreciation of her.

(2,270 posts).... GORGEOUS! An extremely attractive woman imho. Personally I really like the gray/silver hair too, but I do have a "thing" about that. I do understand, sorta, why so many people dye their hair but .......... but .......... but ........ when you see someone above the age of oh say 55 and there is not a single gray or silver strand on their heads, it just LOOKS "fake" so why bother?
Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but you mention "all that makeup" but in the same post its sort of implied that her grey/silver hair is what makes her look "older" to you. I submit that hair dye is just another form of makeup. Funny that I would have more of a problem with hair dye than lipstick but I never said I was a totally rational being .
Anyway, older women ROCK. Lol, in fact I've said for many years now that a woman is most attractive when she's hit her 40's or higher. Have never understood the youth = beauty thing anyway. Yeah, I'm an old guy and would much rather be with a woman in her 60's than a girl in her 20's. (No offense to the younger ladies out there!)

(31,989 posts)Your name doesn't fit your comment, though. You seem quite the opposite to me.
As for hair dye ..... some ladies are blessed with beautiful silver hair and others have mousy salt and pepper. I think to each her own as to what she decides to do with it.

It was one of the best days of my life when I could tell the Beutician no more expensive bleach or teasing.
Reverting to salt and pepper with a good haircut and enough natural curl so it is simply drip dry when I exercise in the pool.

(31,989 posts)I think it's fantastic to show an older woman portraying beauty and glamour. Plenty of us still look good after the age of 60!

(15,536 posts)and by "we" I mean other women, is to be criticizing a woman for her looks. Jaysus! It's bad enough men think the only quality a woman can be measured by is her looks, let alone other women. "She wears too much makeup." "She doesn't wear any makeup." "She should color her hair." "She should let it go natural." I could go on. These sorts of messages do nothing to change the culture of judging women by their looks.
Just stop already.

(25,300 posts)Probably due to genetics and possibly sun damage.
She doesn't have visible eyelashes, which is instant aging. Her brows are also thin. Her skin is a bit more wrinkled for her age. Was she previously a smoker?
She also has white hair, while many women her age still have a bit of salt and pepper. (When my mom died at 81 she still retained some dark hair)
I'm not too worried about this....I don't know anything about her...and her "age" is her body and not just her face. She seems to have a great body! Great physique!
Her body looks much younger than the average 68 yr old!
