(9,740 posts)another Stephen King prison story, perhaps a little more inclined toward the supernatural, but still a great yarn with a satisfying conclusion.

(2,042 posts)A lot of Stephen King movies are bad, these two are excellent.

(5,914 posts)All three have the same director: Frank Darabont. That guy has the Stephen King vibe figured out.

(5,914 posts)I resisted seeing that movie for so long. Just didn't sound interesting to me. But some friends pressured me into watching it, and it was awesome. It is a great companion piece to Shawshank.
GREAT cast, including Tom Hanks, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Sam Fuckin Rockwell. How much more do you need to know? Stream it today!

(9,740 posts)Hilarious and terrifying at the same time.

(5,914 posts)He is one of those actors that makes ANY movie at least watchable just by virtue of the fact that he's in it.

It's almost strange to see so many stars in that movie, way back in the early 80's.
Especially Jeff Goldblum. Who hasn't changed one bit, it seems. Which is a good thing.

(149,762 posts)I loved it, still do in fact, and have never gotten over the fact that it got beaten out by a lesser movie that got Best Picture that year. Forrest Gump! Tom Hanks was in that one. I think!
Anyway, enjoy watching Shawshank over and over! It's based on a novella by Stephen King called "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption." Well worth reading. The adaptation from the novella was perfect.
