He should just cut his losses.

There are enough closet non-MAGA republicans in the House who would vote for a clean bill.

Which would mean that McCarthy would be subject to another vote, replacing him as Speaker.

And he could say, "Well, I *was* SOTH for 6 months . . . . "

But OTOH, he could also be relieved that he'd no longer be subject to threats and extortion by the likes of MTG, Gym Jordan, and Matt Gaetz.
