histories with violet crimes with weapons etc. should not be able to get guns, especially military assault weapons.
It not that complicated to understand. Schools have many entrances and shooters can get in, like they did at Uvalde and Stoneham Douglas.
Armed guards were not the answer in either place. In fact, at Stoneham Douglas the guard ran, and at Uvalde, the guards were all cowards.

(2,275 posts)The national glorification of guns and violence mixed with unrestricted easy access to guns has come home to roost.
Giving the kids a kiss and a hug along with an "I love you, have a great day" while sending them off into classrooms that have mass shooter drills is simply insane.
Then there comes the insanity of the feigned complete shock that "this was never expected in our city".
America's answer? More guns, and thoughts and prayers.
Gun sales go thru the roof - more specifically, the brand/model of gun used in the latest mass shooting of the day sells out at guns stores that blanket this nation like RW talk radio.

(2,168 posts)What about the start and end of the day when the kids are walking to and from their busses or cars? No outside sports? No gym class outside?

(5,534 posts)In other words, armed guards everywhere. Almost every shooting has been done by someone familiar with the scene, not a stranger walking up to the front door with their weapon in sight. What you said is so obvious. Kids only get shot inside the school ? They get a pass outside ?

(2,168 posts)And all you have to do is look at other counties that clamped down on guns to see that it is most definitely the guns. But GOPers dont get science, empirical data, and cant read graphs.

(8,134 posts)and I'm getting increasingly irritated with click bait headlines that are less than meaningless.
She let this guy go on and on and on, and muttered, almost under her breath, one comment and then followed it up with the observation, again in a tone of voice lacking all conviction, that armed guards didn't prevent at least some mass shootings at school.
It's actually quite disheartening to think that this tepid, feeble, half-hearted response is what passes for an actual take down of GOP talking points.

(53,978 posts)Stoneham Douglas and all the coward cops at Uvalde. Too many of the talking head hosts are just not up to assertive, interviews with tough follow-up questions.
Too many of them are just news readers. We need more like Ari Melber, Rachel Maddow, Jim Acosta, Nicole Wallace.

(5,030 posts)She sat there like a coward letting him spout off "more guns" nonsense when she could have immediately cut him off and reminded him that not too long ago a school had an entire police force that was unwilling to stop a shooter from massacring children. This gun nut logic that more guns is going to deter mass shooters is BS. Mass shooters aren't looking to get out alive and a gun is useless if someone unexpectedly shoots you in the face.

(2,653 posts)This guy is whacko if he believes this calls for armed guards and more guns. Geez, how stupid can one get? (rhetorical question)
