Dubya visited the hurricane recovery camp where I volunteered for a year after Katrina and cracked jokes the whole time, eyes glazed over when meeting survivors, was decidedly detached when discussing the recovery problems. Christie also looks like he gets it. Gov. Barbour never looked so authentic when meeting with Katrina survivors in Mississippi - not that he did much of that, mind you. He mostly met with wealthy residents who'd lost their seaside mansions.

to see a democrat and a republican working together for a common cause. I haven't seen that in years. I will give kudos to Christie in this instance.

And if Obama by his good works can get some republicans to work w/him this is a major
breakthrough .... make Cantor, Mitch McConnell, and all the others look like the un-American
bastards that they are.

This probably perked everybody up and made them feel better - as though somebody important, who could make a difference, actually did come see for themselves what these storm victims are up against. And having the Comforter-in-Chief, in the flesh? That would certainly have made MY day! Talk about offering hope!

He's not just doing the job a govenor is supposed to do in a disaster.

On top of that he is totally appreciative of the help Obama is giving him (I heard about it on a podcast).

And finally... look at Christie's face...
I'd never seen him care about anyone or anything before.

And here he is... reaching out to people... and happy to do it.

Kind of reminds me of when the Grinch's heart grew 3-4 times larger than normal.

He is working with Obama... and happy to do it... and happy to be there helping people.

I'd never thought I'd see such a thing.

I used to think he was vile... I couldn't relate with this guy.

Like him, I'm a big guy, too....
Now, looking at him. I think I could have have a slice of pizza with the guy (OK... probably half a pie each and some ginger ale).

I don't think I am imagining this.
