he is in a lose/lose situation, he will come to his senses and start serious negotiations. I think he has met his match with President Biden leading the way. I sense Vlad's realization is near.

Much more so than Biden, who is not so scheming and sly.

with Biden in office and his collusion well known.

I suspect this is all a false threat intended to prop up the petro profits. It is working on that front, crude is 18% higher than a year ago and climbing. Raising oil prices is an attack on importing nations and props up Russia's revenue stream. He would be a fool to end that revenue stream, that's not his goal.

Pretty much all their economy is based on? They don't really have any other real exports do they?

That's why there is now a huge move to get an alternate gas supply in place.

What I'm asking, though I should have said FFs, if Fossil Fuels are their main resource to feed their economy. If that is true then the main intent for putin would be to dominate that commodity on the continent if not elsewhere.

their extraction cost is higher than competitors. When the price of oil drops to still profitable for competitors, they can't profit. Both the economy and Putin's favorables rise and fall together with the price of a barrel of oil. Putin makes another billion and Russians pay to move his pawns around as the world panics and prices rise.

That's how I pictured it but I don't know enough to explain it to anyone or answer my own question.

I have read that the U.S. and allies are working to move Russia's oil customers to other suppliers. All part of the strategy to damage the Russian economy and the oligarchs if Russia invades Ukraine again.

Along with the other response I got, that's what I thought was going on. This shit is so old.
