I love the message, I just don't care for the southern caricature. Having a family from the south that is educated and intelligent is something we are proud of. Not everyone from the south is like this. There are rednecks everywhere.
Thanks for listening.

I don't happen to live in the south but I do know some people who would be defined as a redneck.

and my family are pretty much all southerners, including my wife and children. Yes, there are rednecks everywhere, but there's one hell of a lot more of them down here, and most of them do sound like that. But they aren't caricatures. They're the real deal. There's way too much Confederate Christianity down here. That's the problem as I have come see it over the past 20 years, and while these folks have good hearts for the most part, the cynical bastards who run the ante-bellum religious and conservative political structure have so fused the two that there is no practical distinction between them. Since the Civil Rights Act and the Southern Strategy, the GOP has become the de facto party of God for the majority, and the father south you go the worse it gets. When the local pulpit pounder tells the congregation the President is a half-breed negro, Muslim, Nazi-socialist fifth columnist, they take it as gospel and pray hard to Jesus and the Republican Party to save them at the same time they fill the offering plate and complain about taxes even though they get more back in federal assistance than they ever pay into the treasury, in essence rendering unto the Christo/Conservative political machine the things they get from Caesar.
