Stephen Colbert: Director/Producer Peter Jackson On Beatles Documentary "Get Back" (Continued)

A Way To Save The Beatles (If Only Paul Knew About It) - Peter Jackson On "Get Back"

Director Peter Jackson examines the mindset of The Beatles as they prepared for a rooftop concert profiled in the new Disney+ documentary, "The Beatles: Get Back," and sheds light on why the band suppressed the footage for decades. Jackson also mentions a chat between George Harrison and John Lennon that might have changed the direction of the band had they ever shared the details with Paul. Stick around for two more parts of this fascinating conversation with Stephen Colbert's friend and favorite director.

John, Paul, George & Ringo Find The Right Words In Peter Jackson's "The Beatles: Get Back"

Peter Jackson and Stephen marvel over footage of The Beatles working out the lyrics to "Something," and predict that people may come away from the documentary with a new opinion of the relationship between Yoko Ono and John Lennon. "The Beatles: Get Back" is streaming now on Disney+.

Raw, Potent, Honest, Real - The Private Conversations Overheard In "The Beatles: Get Back"

"We hear it all" says director Peter Jackson, who stripped away layers of guitar noise to reveal intimate conversations between bandmates Paul, Ringo, John and George in "The Beatles: Get Back," streaming now on Disney+.

Having worked now with dozens of the world’s best directors I can understand why “Let it Be” was such a colossal flop.

The film was cut as a drama and not a music documentary. All the time, director Hogg had a vision for what the movie should be.

Instead, the footage should have been edited to show a band’s struggles to rehearse a show on a deadline.

Peter Jackson knew the gem was in the hours of interaction, not the contrived arguments and drama Hogg chose to tell HIS story.

Peter Jackson just let it be and the film is as outstanding as was “A Hard Day’s Night”, and the perfect bookend to the Beatles career as a band.

And I certainly agree. I'm very glad that we got an inside look into the work that went into it.
