in the Asian community. Its like, some people think we were never born in this country, that we all must have come in fresh off the boat. Yes, some families have but many Asians have been here since the 1800s ... Chinese who came here working for the Railroads... some having to sacrifice just to get here...Like many from Vietnam who fled their country after the war and came to the United States. Leaving everything behind to live in a free country.

My family came from Miyazaki to Hawaii to work in the Sugar cane fields... and married into Native Hawaiian families.. My people are also Pacific Islanders, Polynesians who traveled and knew the Pacific waters, in ways most could never understand, Kahuna's or great teachers who taught of the prevailing winds and currents that swept across the Pacific.
