But what's baffling is why so many elected officials choose to follow him and his devastating agenda rather than working for the constituents who elected them! People are suffering and dying! How anyone could support Trump - or the obstructionist-in-chief Mitch McConnell - totally boggles the mind!

I adore Katie Porter. I think she is one of the best Reps out there and she is incredibly intelligent and fights for the people who need it the most. I really hope she goes far. I would even like to see her as President one day.

Hope all is well with you!

6. I don't understand how ONE MAN can do this obstruction

and get away with it. I just don't get it.
How is it legal? How is he not charged with obstruction? How was he re-elected?

Isn't there something we can do about this? This has been a 12 year problem and I'm sick of it.

7. I don't get it, either. It's not like we didn't know what he was like during the campaign

Everything that came out about him was OTT offensive and it's been proven that he's a serial liar. Plus, he had no qualifications or experience at all. Who would vote for such a individual?? I remember early on when he was just being talked about, my friends and I agreed that we'd sooner vote for the next person who drove by than Donald Trump!

But it's the Republican party which wants control at any cost - and Trump has served their purposes. We know after 2000, 2004 and 2016 that something serious is wrong with our voting system and the Republicans have taken advantage of it. It makes no sense that the candidate with the fewest votes is allowed to assume office! They have morphed into a group that no longer serves the American people, only themselves, and Trump is their mascot. At least this time enough people stepped up and voted so it was no longer possible to cheat. But election reform is long past due since the Republicans have proven with this current insanity that they're not giving up!

Try to make sense of it and it’s just infuriating that McConnell is allowed to obstruct Congress.
People are hurting and their complete lack of response to this pandemic is killing them.
By the thousands. Watching from abroad is so frustrating because I’m just a tiny voice in the void. I don’t know how I will ever want to return Home, when the country has gone bat shit crazy and it’s more dangerous than when I left.
I don’t know what it is going to take for 45 to accept that 81 million Americans Voted Against Him!

9. I certainly share your feelings and I'm in New York

I dread the winters here, but I've never been more grateful that I'm where I am. I'm still scared and angry, but at least we have responsible state leadership and masks and other precautions are mandated - I don't go a lot of places, but at least I'm not afraid to leave the house.

But the national leadership scares the #@%! out of me, too! And it happened so fast! I've been on DU since Bush*'s first term, but I've never been scared like this. I trust that Joe Biden has the experience and knowledge to do what needs to be done, but it's going to be a long road - so much has gone wrong and we're dealing with insane people - and members of Congress who are no longer serving the nation or the people they were elected to represent.

I’d want to be in NY too. Your governor cares about its citizens, for sure.

And your last sentence! The truth! 😢

I'm in the Northeast and we had Republican representatives for years - until electing Kirsten Gillibrand in 2006 - but now we're stuck with Elise Stefanik who is one of the 126. There have been protests since she was first elected, but she somehow keeps winning and getting worse every term.

Back in 2016 I didn't see even one Trump sign in my area - the only ones I saw were when I drove up farther north to see a friend who lives in a log cabin in a very rural area near the lakes that attract summer visitors. It's pretty sparsely populated the rest of the year and I saw Trump signs in the yards of trailer parks and I was shocked, made no sense to me. And I didn't see that many this year in my area, but I did see some and they weren't the normal campaign signs, but these huge banners! There was even one on a house across the street from my polling place! It's as if insanity has spread along with the pandemic!
