New Rule: Side with Teachers
Bill calls on parents to show their newfound respect for teachers by taking their side in classroom disagreements.
This "bootleg" version includes the in-studio panel with former CNN Chief White House Correspondent Jessica Yellin and Vanity Fair Contributing Writer, Peter Hamby - and the virtual interview with Golden Globe-winning actor Ewan McGregor, it won't last, but this is all that's available, so far:

(205,839 posts)I hung in there, hoping that they'd upload the panel and the last interview, but the Peter Strzok interview was the featured one, so I figured I'd post this now since that's the one most people were waiting for.

(49,400 posts)Rachel Maddow last night and with Nicole Wallace earlier today.
I have a feeling Trump hates him with as much venom as he does Comey. Hopefully Peter's book sales go through the roof.

(205,839 posts)Right now the news has been inundated with those who have written books in an effort to sound the alarm and get the truth out there, Mary Trump, Peter Strzok, Michael Schmidt, Michael Cohen, you'd have to be living under a rock to miss them - or watching Fox News. *sigh*
He was also on with Trevor Noah last night:

(51,623 posts)for bringing up the issue of disrespected, underpaid and underappreciated teachers!
It seems like Bill is as giddy as a girl being in front of a live audience again.

(205,839 posts)And I agree that he's thrilled - he not only has a small audience, but his "panel" was in-studio as well. And I agree about his New Rules, teachers have a tough enough time as it is, let alone what they're dealing with during this pandemic. Out of curiosity, I checked out the website of my former elementary school and the protocols that they've put in place - in person and virtual learning, health checks, in classroom meals - sounded so complicated that it gave me a headache. More power to the teachers and all who are currently working in our schools!

(51,623 posts)but two of my teacher friends say it is very difficult. They both teach Spec Ed (in Elem and High School).
Another teacher friend who is retired and has a Spec Ed granddaughter who she helps with said the same thing. This isn't easy for anyone but those with special needs really are suffering the most. I wanted to ask my friend who she voted for even though I already know who it was....the fucking moron of course. She was a Dem until she married a GOP and drank some of the Kool-aid)) but I want her to come to the conclusion on her own that her choice for POTUS put her granddaughter into this situation.

(205,839 posts)I spent a year in a classroom working with disabled preschool kids (ages 2-6, most of them were 4) and can't imagine the difficulties trying to maintain the protocols that would be tough enough in any classroom. These little ones needed a lot of attention and help with just about everything - and as for "social distancing," I just can't see that happening. And, of course, virtual learning would just be impossible.
So I agree with you. Schools just opened this week in my neck-of-the-woods and I was trying to imagine how that's working with the youngest grades - wearing masks?? I got stuck behind a school bus earlier this week and the little kids that got off were wearing them - while just starting school is tough enough.
And I am so very sorry about your friend! Yikes! I really don't get it since the evidence is right out there. I'm lucky in that pretty much everyone I know, childhood friends and work friends, have turned out to be informed and on the right team. Though I have a phone message that I've put off answering from a friend of over 10 years who I discovered watches Fox News. I don't want to get into an argument with her, she has had a tough time in recent years - she's devoted to her family and lost her only daughter to an overdose. So I have to be careful about what I say.

(51,623 posts)to The Villages in FL may be starting to lean that way.
My friends who are distance teaching don't like it but they also don't want to go back since it is still not safe in this community. My other friend won't even sub this year.....too risky for her family.

(205,839 posts)Cases are rare enough in my New York county that they make the front page of the local paper. And just today they reported two new cases - at the elementary school. Observing privacy, they didn't say who they are, teachers, other workers or students - but I can just imagine the fear that's spreading throughout the school and the decisions that will need to be made.
And I cannot imagine being a teacher right now. My long time partner at work left to teach elementary school, now teaches second grade in another small local school that just opened this week - and his wife is a teacher, too. Kids that age need a lot of help and supervision, it's got to be risky.

(205,839 posts)He's been complaining about not having a "real" audience, think he needs the feedback, so he finally got one now that he's back in the studio, though it's small and sitting really far apart. I was just disappointed that the panel was never uploaded, though his "featured" guest was the best. I just took another look at his Twitter account and he added this week's "funny bit..."

(205,839 posts)The other two interview segments still haven't been made available on the "official" site, I'm hoping that that will change now that he's back in the studio.
