Nobody else could get a word in edgewise, and the opening segment of the "on air" show with her was even worse. Maher does this nonsense regularly with an assortment of (apparently to him) attractive rightwing female jerks, and it is pathetic.

The best thing you can do to expose foolishness is to let the fools speak.
And the only ones that they will convince are other fools which you will never convert with intelligent discussion.

By the way, that is Steve Schmidt on there from the McCain campaign who supported O'Donnell's doppleganger, Sarah Palin, to be a heartbeat away from the presidency. Good call, Steve!

However, I really think he allows conservatives too much leeway to spout their propaganda unchallenged on his show. Either he or his research staff just don't do their homework. I'm sure a lot of us here at DU are in the same boat when we watch his show. I find myself yelling at the TV set to shut these people down. For instance, last night in his initial interview with O'Donnell (and yes, she is fairly dumb, but drinking the Kool-Aid will do that to you) she was going over the usual Repub talking points about Obama not being able to run on his record. The audience was not going for it, but Bill let it pass instead of shutting her down with his many, many accomplishments. She also came out with the meme about Obama having the House and Senate for two years and not getting his stuff through, and again Bill let it go instead of bringing up the meeting that was held on his inauguration day, along with the record number of filibusters that we ALL know about.

In many ways, he's still the 1980's era Democrat who feels he needs to apologize for his views. I really think he needs some hardcore, smart people on the panel like Rachel, Stephanie, Ed, or Larry when he has those rethugs on so someone will call them out on their lies and watch them squirm. I mean, even Steve Schmidt was doing a better job than Bill in dealing with her.

I like that he lets the conservatives go on & on.
You shine light on cockroaches, you don't let them hide in the dark.
Give them the spotlight & watch them talk themselves into quicksand.

People need to hear the inconsistencies in the conservatives' frame of mind.
He let O'Donnell contradict herself with the "bad bad government" crap.
Government is government whether State, Local, or Federal.
Christine O'Donnell is yet another Republican Tea Party nut & Maher let her expose this truth to the audience.

He doesn't need to interject every five minutes. The audience should be smart enough to hear the bullshit for themselves.

incredibly stupid...about the time their talking points dry up and they start ad libbing.

Why bother calling her out on the stupid? we know it's stupid, and if the show is looking for stupid, rw'ers will certainly provide.

When Steve explained about the invasive ultrasound procedure, she did not know know what they were talking about. "There's no invasive procedure" is what she was spouting. I do wish Bill would have come out stronger on that issue. He asked a good question and what we got from odonnel was word salad, gently tossed.

It's more entertaining watching Steve shut her down than Bill, it forced a repub to fight the stupid. I really don't get the impression that Bill is apologizing for his views.

While I get what Bill was saying re pro-choice and religion, I'd like to hear from a few atheists who are anti-choice.

And I agree that letting them run on only exposes their stupidity. It was obvious that O'Donnell had NO idea about the invasive procedures that some states are foisting on women, and the whole "states rights" thing is getting old. The entire panel was poised to jump on that with the civil rights argument that if we left it up to the states, African Americans still would not be able to sit at a lunch counter, drink from the same fountains, or use the same restrooms as whites in some southern states, and they were cut off. I guess after watching Democrats constantly dissolve into "you've got a point there" instead of standing their ground for the last 30 years, I prefer the Jon Stewart/Steven Colbert tact of calling them out immediately and watching them turn into deer in the headlights!

It really saddens me to see older women that have the intellect, mannerisms, or demeanor of a teenager. Christine O'Donnell gives me that vibe of being a very childish woman that only likes to see herself on TV, starving for attention. She is interchangeable with these women I see in South Carolina that wear clothes bought from the juniors department at the local mall and just like O'Donnell here, have the worst fake tan, the woman is orange! These same women loved Palin and potentially see Christine O'Donnell as someone victim of a liberal witch hunt.

We deserve better when it come to people running our goverment and our lives. We would be in helluva worse mess if we had doctors, lawyers, educators and other professionals who are not well versed in the rudiments of their professon. George W. Bush is a fine example of one who was put into a vital position without having proper credentials. I am afraid Romney fallsl into that same category

Absolutely, the republican party have passed legislation to undercut education to create the Republican voters of tomorrow. Voters that can be manipulated by any propaganda they spew, yet with the Tea Party the dummies have come home to roost and are manipulating the manipulators to do their idiotic bidding.
