I didn't know the US Border Patrol actually has checkpoints set up WITHIN the US to stop vehicles to ask people if they are citizens? Police state much?

(29,258 posts)4. yes, as a former resident of southern AZ, I can tell you the BP checkpoints are allowed up to 75
miles inside the Border.
Every time I went to the larger town ( Sierra Vista) I would be stopped at the checkpoint and asked if I was a US citizen.

Stopping citizens within the US and asking for proof of citizen ship. I heard it was happening more frequently on buses, but didn't know it was a matter of routine, like going thru a toll booth.

What about her 4th Amendment rights? Weren't they being violated?
