(95,337 posts)Tampa is gonna get swamped with Hurricane Isaac.
The National Guard is gonna be busy enough dealing with the citizens that live in Tampa along with all the delegates.
Everyone should have gone home today.

(12,233 posts)The police are standing in front of a Federal Court building (I believe Senator Nelson has an office inside of that one still)... If the protestors were to step onto the Federal land, they could be arrested. I'd say the cops are doing them a favor; especially if they aren't familiar with the city and don't realize how many of the buildings are considered "federal"...
Not sure what division that is... There are so many cops in the area... and National Guard. I was talking to one last night and he said he had a PTSD moment with a bit of confusion and loud noise... (they could care less to be protecting the wealthy or standing in front of assholes who are willing to throw piss or what not onto them anyway). They are sent to do a job, however, many have actually served in a combat type of situation... so, just be a bit gentle if you are protesting.
BTW, if I ever ran for Senator or President, I'd have his vote... somehow I sound like a politician should to most people who become cynical and apolitical. I'm also not bought 100 ways to Sunday either.. and have no idea how I'd find time to think about running for dog catcher... LOL.

(20,682 posts)These rallys are a total hoot!
I remember as we circled Herald Square, because they wouldn't let us stop walking, the entire area was chanting "li-ar! Li-ar!" while Shrub was speaking. We knew what was going on because Tweety was out there and we could see and hear the feed in the street.
Please: If you're going to Tampa, get ahold of Obama signs and be ready near Tweety every time they go to commercial and come back. They want you to hold up your signs and scream. It's so much fun!
