Rita Hayworth, America's 'Love Goddess,' was born in NY to parents of Irish & Spanish background. The ravishing, red head beauty, actress & dancer rose to fame in films of the 1940s & as a WWII pin up girl. In 1949, Rita married Prince Aly Khan, becoming the first Hollywood actress to marry into royalty. 3. Rita Hayworth was born Margarita Carmen Cansino in Brooklyn, NY.

Her mother was American Volga Hayworth of Anglo-Irish descent who danced with the Ziegfeld Follies.
Rita's father, Eduardo Cansino, originally from Spain was a trained dancer. He instructed Rita and took her from California to Mexico to perform.
