(8,200 posts)Firstly, the people who dominated the Bush administration were all members of the PNAC, commonly known as Neocons. They published numerous documents calling for the invasion of Iraq. They attempted to get President Clinton to do exactly that and he dismissed them as radical screwballs. Secondly, they were unable to get the United States intelligence community to validate their bogus claims that Iraq was secretly producing atomic weapons. This claim was also denied by the international nuclear inspectors who testified that this was not the case. What did Cheney, Rumsfeld and liars incorporated do? They formed their own "intelligence group" that provided irrefutable proof that our intelligence organizations had denied. We all know the result of that debacle they lied us into. The really sad thing is they were never held accountable for this tragedy. If they had been perhaps it would not be repeating itself.
Well, folks the same play is now showing in Washington. Some of the very people who are responsible for that catastrophe are now attempting to repeat it with Iran. Trump is nothing more than an ignoramus who is being used by these same people to embroil us in a repeat of exactly what happened in Iraq. They are now attempting to align us with Israel's war monger Netanyahu. They are claiming that they have intelligence that Iran is covertly developing nuclear weapons. We have heard this scenario before. The inspectors who are in charge of assuring that Iran is compliant have stated emphatically they are complying with the terms of the agreement. Now comes the big lie. The charges by Israel are really absurd when it is a fact that they were exposed as clandestinely doing exactly this. Its very simple they believe that they have recruited the prime patsy to do the dirty work of destroying their enemy. The intelligence that Trump is being duped into believing is crap that is more than ten years old and absolutely not confirmed by our intelligence services. This incompetent clown must be stopped and the Iraq fiasco must not be allowed to be repeated.

(67,782 posts)....a similar reaction from REPUBLICAN Jeff Flake, and have read reactions from several other Senators.
By the way, didn't Senator Sanders work to include Iran sanctions into the bill for Russia sanctions and then vote against both (one of only two in that 98-2 vote)? Would like to hear your take on that development.
R B Garr
(16,994 posts)It was brilliant, as usual for him.
"Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) said that Trump has undermined national security and made a historic mistake by withdrawing from the Iran deal.
In a statement provided to PoliticusUSA, Rep. Schiff said:
The decision by President Trump to withdraw the United States from the Iran nuclear deal will undermine our national security, increase the prospect of a nuclear Iran or conflict with that nation, and cause other countries to conclude that America does not keep its word. Scuttling an agreement that had halted the Iranian nuclear program and put in place an intrusive regimen of inspections without a credible Plan B is a mistake of historic proportions. The IAEA and our Intelligence Community has repeatedly confirmed that Tehran is in compliance with the deal, and the President takes this action against the appeals of our closest allies, senior members of Congress in both parties, and many of his own advisors. The Presidents willingness to shatter the international consensus, forged over years of arduous negotiations, on how to constrain Irans nuclear program only makes sense as part of a campaign to erase his predecessors legacy, regardless of the consequences to our national security."

(8,292 posts)Every person I meet that I eventually learn is liberal or Democratic Party voter, started with being a Bernie Supporter! Every last one of them. Even today, I had a locksmith at my house and she told me she was a Bernie Supporter.
WHY don't you all understand that? We chose Bernie and he didn't get the votes so why the hate? We all voted for Hillary when we needed to.
Stop it.

(24,123 posts)WAY past time we united against BLOTUS, instead of all the fighting and excuse making over the last election, and rid ourselves of that shitstain on the presidency. But noooo... WWWIII is about to start and, no doubt, the Bernie haters will blame him for that too!!

Many stayed home & many voted Stein & other 3rd Party.
Don't give us that "but everyone voted for DEM Party/HRC in the GE."
We were all here watching the same campaign.
That unity never happened.
Clearly.
It splintered our electorate.

(8,292 posts)and politics came around the topic. He said he liked Bernie. He voted for Bernie in the primary.
But HE HATED the Clintons. He said that they were a crime family.
I looked at him like, you voted for Bernie and then Trump? Do you regret it?
This guy is a vet. He does construction type of work and is making lots and lots of money so no, he wanted nothing to do with the Clintons. He's making lots of money so for him, 45 is doing his job.
That's what we're dealing with here as well as those that refused to vote for Hillary.
Bernie supporters that HATED Hillary with a passion and THEY voted for 45 to blow it all up.
I told him what I believed all along. I said 45 is not intellectually capable of being President and he's proved it so far.
He said the economy...I said, nope, he ended the Iran deal and now the gas prices are going to sky rocket. And what happens when that happens, we have another recession.
You can't talk to these people. They are impossible.

(6,288 posts)that was the message driven home 24/7 by the glorious MSM campaign reality show of Donald Vladimer Trump.
Well at least 65 million voters didn't buy the bs & did their own research on who they were voting for rather than the Russian mobster.
LittleGirl
(8,292 posts)Was the crimes of Clinton discussed during the election. I saw it constantly and she never overcame it.
Im forever going to wonder about those 70k votes in those handful of counties that turned Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio and PA red. Hacked I tell you, hacked. If anyone thinks the Russians stopped at the general election with their hacking...I have ocean front property for you in AZ.

(14,178 posts)But someone alerted this post for bashing Democrats. I'm not sure which one they thought you had besmirched. I voted to keep it up. I wanted to be able to respond to you.
I just wanted to clarify that it was not ALL "Bernie supporters that HATED Hillary with a passion and THEY voted for 45 to blow it all up". It may have come across that way. In fact any person that said they were going to vote for Bernie if he had won the primary but then voted for Trump, was never really on our side anyways. They were part of the group disillusioned with either party. They were ripe for a more out of the box candidate from the left or from the right. Its like they didn't really care about politics. Politics were a part of the problem.
Which is also why Bernie would have most likely won against Trump, and taken a lot of Dems with him. Because of all these disillusioned that desperately wanted, or were led to believe they wanted, a rebel of some type. And many of these would have preferred Sanders. We don't have to like every one that would have voted Democrat because of Bernie being their choice over Trump, and so voted for their second choice. Those people are obviously ignorant of the fact that those two are at the opposite end of the spectrum politically. But we could have still used their votes!
LittleGirl
(8,292 posts)Told me he switched to 45, I was nearly speechless!
I didnt mean all Hillary haters switched to 45, but so many wanted Bernie and not Hillary and they were independents. I know more of them.
This guy spent 10 yrs in the military, marines out of CA. He sounds like he did it for the money. He bragged about how much of a bonus he got for his service. 100k or more.
He hated the Clintons and I am sure he was in Liberal CA and came to AZ so that he could make lots of money in a low cost of living state. He may be back tomorrow so I will chat some more.
Thanks for your response.

(2,568 posts)This constant squabbling on this board equates to a brother and sister bickering while a burglar is coming through the window and robbing them blind while they are doing so. DAMN...November is coming. STOP looking back and look FORWARD. Park the hate and put the anger towards winning in November. Six and a half months away is right around the corner. From grassroots up to the top...WE have to turn the tide here. This country is in crisis. Locking horns loses elections. I remember everyone of the repugs on that stage debating Trump for the nomination for president absolutely hated him. Well here we are and ALL the repugs now vote in lockstep with this egotistical maniac....why? Solidarity. That's why. We need that kind of consensus in our party. This BS pulls everyone apart. Agree to disagree and put it to bed once and for all.....we have elections to focus on and win! Be part of the solution. RESIST
Wwcd
(6,288 posts)..the the other, to undermine solid candidates & Dem Party strengths, which serves only to splinter the electorate needed to unseat Trump et al.
As long as that continues, Dems will call it out for what it is.
And rightfully so.
The country cannot withstand another "Tea Party"
We've all seen what happens with that.
Plucketeer
(12,882 posts)So, in your eyes, the Tea Party and Progressives are the same. Well then - yes:
"We've all seen what happens with that."
They shook up the GOP and sent the old dogs of the party scampering. Of course, I don't like what they stand for, but I wouldn't mind hearing how young, fresh-minded aspirants might screw things up on the Left. I read this "line" about needing "fresh blood" instead of some dottering octagenarian with gobs of experience and the resultant understanding of how Washington REALLY "works". Of course, it has to be fresh blood that's not TOO fresh - otherwise an upstart like that might step on corporate type "people" that are essential to the Left's goals.
Imagine a rep that already HAS comfy shoes to get out there with the PEOPLE - or has a REAL voice against the disgusting dispensations of money we don't have to keep the lights on in cruise missile factories - Or truly CARED about the impoverished and wanted to see banking thru what's left of the postal system. The left could learn a LOT from the upstart kids protesting the proliferation of guns in our society. They're just innocent enough to not CARE who's feelings they might hurt by cutting Right thru the CRAP. It's a shitty world out there, but nothing's more inspiring than the clarity of innocence.
Yeah - EYES STRAIGHT AHEAD! Forget what we did before. Bill Murray's gotta be in this movie. His clock's about to go off again.

(2,568 posts)During the primaries we need to focus on the most progressive democratic candidate. One that is truly FOR THE PEOPLE. If one is selected to run and that is not exactly your person we need to get on board. Period. We may get SOME of what we want not EXACTLY what you are looking for. But seriously, there is no room for staying home and pouting. This is for our future. My God, look at the destruction around you. This is our duty as democrats to UNITE. Join you local indivisible group...there are some serious progressive democrats at work and we are immersed in the blue wave coming.

(12,882 posts)Here's my simple guidepost tho..... If a candidate gets substantial monies from PACs or Corporate "people", their motives for office are suspect at best.
