It always makes the dems more conservative. It NEVER seems to push us further to the left it always seems to pull us further to the right. Especially now that we have citizens united it's gonna get worse and worse.

It ALWAYS does and it doesn't have to. Many people on this board would have us think that the "heads I win, tails you lose" setup that the 1%ers have orchestrated (with the help of Democratic Party leaders) is our only choice. It is a false choice.

But that is because they are provided by someone else. SImply choosing between the hamburger and the cheeseburger because those are the "choices" is not going to change anything.

We need to get out of the entire system.

But its good to be reminded once in awhile how deeply established the Corporocracy is installed in America. That there really are not two distinct parties. And I wouldn't even use the word "party". Its more like a machine. The Dems play the good cop, with a soft side, and the Repubs play the bad cop who may go a little too far sometimes to "get er done". But really they are the same coin with different sides. They are both moving America towards an even greater Corporocracy. Soon they hope to get a lasso on the Internet, and sites like DU will become a pain to log on to, while the MSM news sites will be instant connection. They've already managed to find ways to imbed ads everywhere. Peer to peer sharing will be gone next.

The difference is that under the Democrats, it will be a longer windier road to a full Corporocracy because they will have to still keep up appearances, maybe take a decade longer than the Republicans who would rather just go shock and awe on all publicly funded programs.

It sounds depressing, but there is some hope. Before the internet is fully absorbed, it can be a great tool to educate people as more and more Americans come online. With enough citizens educated about this hijacking of America, there may be time to find a better way. The first would be to get money out of politics with public financing and a strict spending limits. Citizen United must be overturned or be legislated away. Easier said than done though.

Each of the 2 parties play different roles in the same play. The vast majority in both are bought and paid for creations of the corporate fascists. There are good people in the Democratic party, but enough of even them cave into what is called 'the inevitable reality of American politics' to make a true difference. If you doubt this, just look at the utter lack of rollback that occurred from 2008 to 2010.

The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to the doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can "throw the rascals out" at any election without leading to any profound or extreme shifts in policy.

...do nothing about Medicare.

Even if you dont hear the word Medicare, that is what it is about. That was the Pete Peterson Foundation, which is an enemy of Medicare, and the election they are talking about is NY-26 which was a huge defeat for Ryan even though he wasnt the candidate. It was the election with the granny in the wheelchair ad.

Clinton has no problem 'feeling' his adversaries out . Not surprising he is willing to discuss anything with Ryan. I think it is common knowledge that the Dems realize Medicare needs some revamping at any rate. Doubt if Clinton or Omama is in favor of Ryan's Plan.
Clinton has proved he is for the 99Percent.

As pointed out elsewhere:
1. NAFTA,
2. The repeal of Glass-Steagall, and
3. The Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000.

Because you say that you think "it is common knowledge that the Dems," it appears that you are an outsider looking in and that you are not a "Dem."

If you did not intend for your post to be sarcastic, I wonder whether you are even an American posting in this country.

A question was legitimately asked as to whether you were a Democrat because of the way that you referred to Democrats as "the Dems." You said, "I think it is common knowledge that the Dems realize Medicare needs some revamping at any rate." Your reference to other people as "the Dems" indicates that you're not a Democrat. I asked a legitimate question based upon the language that you used to try to determine whether you are a Democrat.

Your use of the English language and your logic ("I think it is common knowledge that the Dems realize Medicare needs some revamping at any rate.&quot indicated your lack of familiarity with Democrats in this country. Again, this prompted a legitimate question as to whether you are an American. No accusation was made about anything. A legitimate question was asked.

Something else is also odd. At post #17, you used language: "Clinton has no problem 'feeling' his adversaries out". Now, you say the words "jerking off all the time." Quite frankly, I don't want to know what you do in your spare time.

When you refer to "the Dems," it leads me to believe from your own words that you are not a Democrat at all.

"knee jerk" reactions.
You didn't 'ask' me any questions. You didn't 'ask' me about anything.
You just 'wondered' and assumed because you thought I 'appeared' to not be a Democrat, as well as not being an American. Adust you specs, and please, stop 'knee jerking' off for your own sake, not mine.
Sorry, I should have referred to my 'fellow' Dems to satisfy your assumptions. Your pickyunish analysis of my wording is commendable. But better forget about that law career.
I'll just keep on keeping you in the dark whether I am a Dem or an American.
