My favorite FZ quote of all time. Just thought I'd throw it in as food for thought.
2016 elections proved this statement beyond doubt.
The old tube style teevee I had in those days survived a lot of things I threw at it when Ray Gun would be blathering his inane platitudes masking unchecked and unabashed greed. It was what I perceived as fascism marching proudly, alongside the "moral majority" (which was neither) wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross.
And I honestly thought we would see the last of this nonsense when he was done. But it was my college days and I was seeing it all through the lens of empirical knowledge and "facts".
The RW had not yet created the "alternative facts" universe their fans live in.
But it had begun, with a vengeance:

by those others surrounding him.

Novak's argument that we couldn't possibly be moving toward a fascist theocracy because "permissiveness is the game today" is a derogatory comment toward freedom of expression. And it struck me that that's how they see things... "permissiveness", a word derived from "permission". As if people are being "allowed to" be or act certain ways only through the grace of some higher authority. If there is a higher authority, it certainly isn't anyone in government or any of the churches around today, though they never seem to stop trying to control others.

80 Years of Planning: The Kochs + The Family + Birchers = No Democracy

https://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/2/14/944611/-

An indepth history of those involved from the day the New Deal was signed, including Fred Koch.

Sadly, most people can't focus long enough to read a long article rife with mostly readable articles.

Enjoy and please share.

Know who the opposition is and what their passion. is.

The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.”

cars would crash all over the place as a result of people with Hawaiian shirts on.

No seriously, they decided to make it so that no longer will
America be the place where a man of color can be president.
That is how sick the knuckle-dragging RW radio and fake news helped these people get.
