MSNBCs Rachel Maddow on Wednesday continued her brutal takedown of Donald Trumps repeated denials that he or anyone in his campaign were involved with Russian interference in the 2016 election, arguing, Everyday, a new piece of it falls into place.
Maddow described a Politico report, released Wednesday, that revealed authorities investigated Konstantin Kilimnik, an associate of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, over Kilimniks suspected ties Russian intelligence.
Maddow explained that authorities are looking into a Russian citizen in conjunction with one of the incidents on the Trump campaign last year which defied explanation at the time. That incident, Maddow said, was the Trump campaigns decision to gut a GOP party platform that encouraged a hardline approach against Russia.

(1,779 posts)Trump's decimation of the State Department.
Not only is funding going to be severely cut, but well-seasoned State Department experts are being laid off.
A major problem is that the less we rely on the State Department (with its "soft power" , the more we will rely on the military.
What could possibly go wrong with that?

and shows how Tillerson and the decimation of the state
department benefit Putin.

(Rachel, I sure hope you have good security. Putin isn't going to be happy with you.)
It isn't the crime, it's the cover-up that gets them every time. This is way too big, it's like covering an elephant with a baby blanket. There was this bit poking out on top, and that bit on the side, and more over towards the back...
We all saw it. But the whole picture needed to be put together. How does that Kelly Clarkson song go? Piece by piece...and when this is finished it's going to be a doozy. The question isn't if, but when...and how many will go down the drain.

(195 posts)But, there was a slow drip of information. This drip continued most every day.
I was an avid reader of the LA Times and was able to follow the story pretty well.
The slow drip of information swirled around the Nixon White House and administration officials started dropping like flies. One would drop one day, then a short while later, another would drop. More and more information came out as these weasels turned on each other.
The Senate Hearings were broadcast during school hours, that's how much our high school teachers thought of the import of this matter. School got out for summer and I continued watching those hearings and will never forget the command that Sam Ervin had of these proceedings.
It seems we are seeing a similar slow drip of information again and I deeply appreciate the efforts of Rachel Maddow and other investigative reporters in keeping this flame lit. It is important to remember that the Watergate matter took many, many months to unravel, ultimately leading to Nixon's resignation.
Patience is important here and in the end, I do believe that the Senate will get this right.
