None of Trump's camp understands the first thing about diplomacy let alone international diplomacy. They literally cannot comprehend why this is problematic. There is zero comprehension that a phone call with an international leader is NEVER "just a phone call."

Cooper says that not recognizing Taiwan has been a long standing policy and she says "right" - 1) she never knew that until Cooper told her and 2) there was no connection, ever, after she said "right" of "Oh, I get it. By calling or taking a call from the president of Taiwan Trump essentially recognized Taiwan which goes against long standing US policy."

Her message (and the Trump camp attitude) is that "the President elect can do anything he wants, period."

They seem to think it was the content of the call which is a problem, not the call itself.

It is not stupidity, it is willful ignorance. "I don't want to follow the rules so if I never learn them I don't have to." And where it is not willful ignorance it is deliberate double speak.

When she says Trump is fully briefed Cooper should have asked if that is true why do his actions suggest the opposite? Is he deliberately going against his briefings?
