Concerning Hitler, conservatives in the government thought they could control him, and regular citizens agreed, "What have we got to lose?"

4. Absolutely correct. And for the Clintons, it had its beginning in the South when Bill Clinton

ran for President threatening to lift all regardless of race.
There were some diehard white supremacists in southern seats of power at that time and they turned their propaganda volumn to a steady screech.

They were ALL Joseph Goebbels, out in force against Bill Clinton.

Here are Goebbels thoughts on the art of successful propaganda. Does this define Donal Trump?
Absolutely in the sense they use propaganda for the same purpose and means to an ungodly horrific end.

It would not be impossible to prove with sufficient repetition and a psychological understanding of the people concerned that a square is in fact a circle. They are mere words, and words can be molded until they clothe ideas and disguise.

Think of the press as a great keyboard
on which the government can play.

Joseph Goebbels

Success is the important thing. Propaganda is not a matter for average minds, but rather a matter for practitioners. It is not supposed to be lovely or theoretically correct. I do not care if I give wonderful, aesthetically elegant speeches, or speak so that women cry.
The point of a political speech is to persuade people of what we think right. I speak differently in the provinces than I do in Berlin, and when I speak in Bayreuth, I say different things than I say in the Pharus Hall. That is a matter of practice, not of theory. We do not want to be a movement of a few straw brains, but rather a movement that can conquer the broad masses.
Propaganda should be popular, not intellectually pleasing. It is not the task of propaganda to discover intellectual truths.

6. True - but the GOP has been relying on Goebbels-style chicanery since at least Reagan.

Establishing a 24-hour propaganda network in 1985 was a real master stroke - especially since it was illegally licensed to a foreigner granted a snap citizenship status in an abnormal (probably illicit) way.

Trump's horrible hateful speeches, last night it was somehow different. I was on the computer with him speaking in the background and my body actually started to go numb. I started to realize what 1930s Germany must have sounded like.
