(111,480 posts)because now I'm getting my ass broiled by an "historic" drought in the southwest. I've driven 4 cylinder vehicles and my first EV, a scooter, exclusively all my life, gotten Energy Star appliances, converted to CFLs 20 years ago when they first came out, and heated with wood when I was able to cut and split the stuff when the supplier didn't.
But yeah, I can't say I'm particularly worried any more. Oh, I won't change my energy frugality, I have a positive balance at the electric company of over $200 because I set up a payment plan for when I had to go to Florida to care for elderly parents and I'm an energy miser. It's more that now it's the problem of young people who will live to face many more consequences than I will.
So you guys had better wake up fast.

Also burning rivers, foaming streams and massive fish kills from DDT and dioxins.
You wonder where their sarcasm comes from? We fixed some of it but not enough.
We are screwed and they know it.

Nobody consulted us on any of this stuff. They just did it. Now there are going to have to be a lot fewer of us around.

(497 posts)A. Not funny.
B. Many elderly care a lot about the environment and global climate change.
C. Remove this waste of space.

(29 posts)Lighten up. I taught English or forty years, and most of my students would appreciate parody. Sometimes humor gets to the core issue more effectively that straight talk. Of course, many elderly care about the climate change. You missed the point entirely.

(704 posts)although Ed Asner was pretty good--it's clearly aimed more at young people and getting them involved in protecting the planet. Older people won't save it. That happens to be true. And yes--some older people care--and some don't. But obviously older voters tend to be more from the Fox News Network than younger ones.
They wouldn't care.
No--it was not laugh out loud funny and yes--there are older people who care very much, but it's making a good point to a certain audience. If you're older you are not the audience. Don't take it personally.
By the way--I'm in my 50s.
