Bernie Sanders In Depth Interview, Talks Issues After Big Effort in Iowa, Morning Joe Show

Sen. Bernie Sanders gave a great interview today with MSNBC show hosts Joe and Mika. Many questions and topics were covered: speakers fees received by Hillary Clinton at colleges; a campaign finance system dependent on big money; the high percentage of young voters, 84% who turned out for him in Iowa; concerns of young people about their standard of living, climate change and creating a productive economy.

Responses to Bill Clinton saying Bernie gives 'emotionally satisfying promises to people'; how he is electable and his ranking with Hillary Clinton and Trump on the national level: red baiting rhetoric out there; what he means by democratic socialism and important programs like Social Security, Medicare, Veterans Administration, US Postal Service; what his peaceful political revolution means, the importance of engaging Americans in the political process, and having a government that works for many; his views on the go ahead for more Democratic presidential debates.

Full Interview, 12 mins.

Not 84% of the US? appalachiablue Feb 2016 #9
There are more "young people" in Iowa than participated in the Democratic caucuses. George II Feb 2016 #10
The young people who did not care enough to participate are irrelevant to this discussion. JDPriestly Feb 2016 #12

Great interview.
I just hope he doesn't have to answer that "electablity" question hundreds of times. Like dozens of times wasn't enough.

just after Iowa and now campaigning for New Hampshire's primary in 6 days, Feb 9. What stamina, endurance and great, natural energy and good health. Just finished following him at the NH Forum tonight, and he was fantastic. The 'electability' matter was raised and he handled it effectively, confident yet modest as well. Clinton is on now.

Well, let me tell you, I am over 70 and I have a lot of friends my age, and we all support Bernie. We go calling and tabling for him and have lots of activities in mind that will support him in California.

Feel the Bern!

We oldsters also feel the Bern. How could we not?

We have kids and grandkids and nieces and nephews and all kinds of people we love who are getting a raw deal with the status quo.

Some of my friends are also out there because they are thinking of their students and their clients.

And of course, we are out there because we want Bernie to protect our Social Security and our pensions.

Feel the Bern!

They aren't irrelevant in general, but they are irrelevant to this discussion. They are, we have to assume, not very interested in any candidate.

BTW, Don Lemon is a great interviewer/commentator - got a problem with him?

major political or national figures or hosted a presidential debate or forum I've just not seen it. But the post Town Hall pundit session he conducted last night with 6 or 7 broadcast media personalities turned into the atmosphere of a pizza parlor/tavern after a local HS sports event. Except for Gloria Borger who tried to make intelligent points. So the roundup was not respectful of Hillary, Bernie or the occasion and could have been different. But that's showbiz. How anyone on this board wouldn't know the right wing views and history of JoeScar, aka Squint is hard to imagine.
