TYT: Fact Checking The Fourth Republican Debate
Last night was the GOP debate which means today is fact-checking day. We dont have time to cover more thanks a small fraction of the lies, but here are a few of the more entertaining tall tales
Ana Kasparian (The Point), John Iadarola (Think Tank), and Elliot Hill (The Lip TV), hosts of the The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
"Florida Senator Marco Rubio is a fan of vocational training. At the Fox Business Network GOP debate in Milwaukee, Rubio made a pitch for young Americans to put down the textbooks and pick up a blowtorch.
"For the life of me, I dont know why we have stigmatized vocational training," Rubio said. "Welders make more money than philosophers. We need more welders and less philosophers."
It was a big moment for Rubio, but was he correct? Philosophically and statistically speaking, no.
Its hard to know exactly how many philosophers there are in America, as many dont have the title "philosopher" in their job descriptions. For this fact-check, we will look at those who majored in philosophy in college.*
