(32,886 posts)It's not funny or cute.
There are plenty of other ways to express how proud you are of your daughter(s).

(2,301 posts)Yes it's a creepy comment, but I think the deeper issue is that he seems utterly incapable of viewing women in anything but a sexually objectified way.

(15,224 posts)It's not like he mentioned her education, which would certainly be something to be proud of!
From Wikipedia as to Ivanka's education:
Education
Trump attended The Chapin School in New York until age 15,[1] then transferred to and graduated from Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Connecticut.[2] She spent two years at Georgetown University, then transferred to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania (her father's alma mater), graduating cum laude in 2004 with a B.S. in Economics.[1][3][4]

(2,301 posts)You can also sort of see it with his views on men too, where anything that doesn't comport with his narrow, adolescent view of masculinity must be mocked (e.g. real men don't get captured!).
He's a man-child. And his popularity is just embarrassing. I would call it scary if I didn't think he had a ceiling that was <50%.

(9,773 posts)someone like his as not only admirable, but as presidential. I had hoped we'd progressed beyond that. Though, I should have known better when nearly 50% of voters indicated that they wanted money grubbing bully Mitt Romney as our president. Now that i think of it, Trump is basically Romney with a New Yawk accent.

(11,841 posts)And sitting on their lap. How is that odd? Regardless of Trump's latest comment, this picture was obviously taken years ago when Ivanka was maybe a teen. She's always been tall, so she might not even be a teenager in this picture.
I'm not going to assign weirdness to a picture that could've been taken by a million other families simply because THIS one has trump in it & he's a douchebag!

(735 posts)I get it: half of this country is below average and that's his target market, but even stupid people flinch at the thought of incest. How is this asshole still winning the Republican popularity contest? What does he have to say to get people to distance themselves from him? This whole 'campaign' feels like an episode of South Park.

(7 posts)That is an odd image for him to have copped, since when he was married to his first wife, Ivana, his many affairs at the Trump Tower were legion, and a well known fact to those who toiled there. It all came to light during the expose of his long term affair with Marla Maples, whom he later married and fathered a child with (and whom he never speaks of, by the way). But Maples was hardly his only indiscretion. He was a serial and multiple philanderer. A few years ago, he was even crass and ungentlemanly enough to publicly boast about a onetime affair with an Olympic skater (I forget which one) who had been married at the time, creating a huge and undeserved embarrassment for her.

(27,461 posts)let me suggest this one, he might enjoy it:
Genesis 19:30-38King James Version (KJV)
30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.
31 And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:
32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
34 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
35 And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.
37 And the first born bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.
38 And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Benammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.

(38,340 posts)... Trump's way isn't one of them.
The girls and young women in my own family are intelligent, athletic, and good looking.
But there is no conceivable universe I could imagine them as "dates."
They are our children, and always will be.
I'm absolutely certain my parents, and my wife's parents, still see us as "kids," even as they respect us as adults.
They respected us as children too.
Your own sexuality belongs to you. That's the first rule of sexuality.
If my parents or any other member of my parent's family had ever declared they had some kind of "hots" for me, even limited to their most innocuous daydreams, I would have avoided all further contact with them unless they were medically certified as demented.
I did have a few silly flirtations with my century old great aunt a few times, sharp as tack she was and wicked to the very end, but we both knew it was a silly game. In my forties I was experienced. And then sometimes she'd tell me utterly fabulous stories of her life in Hollywood.
She "flashed" me once, and that was good for a quarter hour, at least, of giggles for both of us, and giggles for me now as I write this, and maybe the amusement added a few more happy days to her own life on this earth.
She was the "bad girl" in her family.
Her sister, my grandma, was the "good girl" and died tragically young of breast cancer. This world is perverse.

(3,544 posts)Welcome to the newly revised GOP. This should just about do it for their party. I just wonder how long it will take to totally destroy them? It's still utterly amazing that this clown is beating all other GOP candidates, many of whom currently serve for the government.
It's a true sign of the end of the GOP.
I'm loving the clown show quite a bit this year this time around.
They are self destructing in record numbers. Jindal and Paul have done a great job. Keep it up boys.
