(111,481 posts)There was a small pod of right whales in Cape Cod Bay once when I took a day trip out to Provincetown, nothing special in the whale world, but gave me a new benchmark for "utterly enormous."
There is just no substitute for seeing one in the water, even at a respectful distance. If you ever have a chance to go watching, do it.
go at least once a year here on the west coast. Truly awesome...

We moved on. Just like we should with coal and oil.
