(12,126 posts)1. There is hope if we all act together to avert this crisis
Call your representatives - often and then write them, often! Let them know you are concerned about this issue and ask them what measures they are taking or considering regarding this crisis.
Join a group that is addressing this crisis - 350.org or The Climate Reality Project or another of your choosing... there are plenty of people pushing for change in how our energy is delivered and the amount of CO2 we are pumping into our atmosphere.
Start reading about this crisis if you haven't already. It trumps anything else going on ... and the media is ignoring it for the most part. We have a short window to respond to this... the extreme weather events are all related and this will only intensify the longer we wait. This is not just for the next generation - this for now... which is hard for people to get their heads wrapped around.
Spread the truth about what's happening... check out Reality Drop and Skeptical Science for current facts and figures.
And stay involved. This is a crisis requiring all of us to stay engaged.
There is hope but we need to act quickly and stick together to fix it for us, now, not some future time. Now.

Important Really Big Picture View that makes so many other "news" concerns trivial by comparison...after all, if the Earth is Unlivable, what's the friggin' point of any of this mundane crap? Yeah, I can see the deniers penning a response about hyperbole, exaggeration, etc. but the fact is unless we really clean up our act, we will be cleaned up....ACT

(12,126 posts)3. I wish it were hyperbole but I have nightmares about this...
and my biggest fear is that people just ignore it because they are denying it or they are too grief stricken to act. We can't afford either response.
