(4,982 posts)We've always had slightly more feminine men's styles and menswear-inspired women's wear but thus far the fashion industry seems to have mostly toyed around the edges with total androgyny - with its models, at least. I think Andrej just may change that and I think it's a great thing - and culturally, it's time for this.
Those in the entertainment industry jumped into it long ago, but as far as the fashion industry (not that I actively keep up with it, I don't), this is new. I just know I've never seen anything like this guy on any catwalk and I do take a gander at them occasionally (though I'd never wear most of that stuff and/or couldn't afford it).
Often female-on-male dressing/styling looks contrived, camp or 'cross-dressy' - not that there's anything wrong with that at all, either! Bowie and others had great fun with it and look fabulous! Andrej is in one of David Bowie's latest videos and that's the only reason he got my attention - and I find him fascinating to look at. He looks totally natural as a woman. In menswear, his gorgeous face stands out a lot but he can pull off those looks too because of his straight, slim male body. Designers love him because he's "two-for-one" - he can wear their entire line and they can hire one model for both women's and men's wear.
Here he is in Bowie's "The Stars Are Out Tonight":
