I am sorry if this is "out there". I think this recent story of the Maralago raid seen as a trump hit seems a tell in some ways. The overton window is cracked open with the possibility of trump being killed.
Whether trump wins or loses, someone in the GOP establishment (nut job, christo fascist, maybe military) will take him out. If he loses, he will not go away and they know that. He sucks all the air out of the party and there will never be a viable GOP candidate with him mucking up the works. They already made this mistake before. After Jan 6 he was mortally wounded and the cowards on the right still came back to their political crack. I think they strike fast after election and try to give him the official dictator solution. Also note that MaGA clowns live in their own world and it will take a final event to get them off of Trump. It will also take time. Regardless of his perceived impact, the American political memory is surprisingly short. A year works like a decade in political world.
Now if he wins.... they still kill him. He is out of control. Whatever he offers in corporate handouts and culture war raw meat, he gives away as being erratic and leaves the GOP on the hook to really screw things up --in a history way. Ruskie ass kissing. Israel genocide favoritism. NATO destruction. Whatever. I think there are a lot of powerful GOP that see his crazy and fading cognitives. There is NO way he gets through 4 years without slobbering on the podium. I think some of the trump allure to the GOP is that he is so manipulable. I think his decline has made that manipulation more difficult. Trump is going to do whatever suits him best. Crime. Greed. Mass casualties. He does not care about the GOP or down ticket. He is crapping on that and trying to proclaim he is their only hope. The key will be the VP choice. For trump not to get offed, he needs to pick a VP that is more scary. Good luck with that. If it is someone like Tim Scott or Stefanik, the GOP and the business interests would love to work with their like. They have proven to be spineless and will cower to whatever GOP business demands.
And of course... They will try to turn him into a martyr and blame the left for the hit. The speed in which the killer will be tagged left will be instantaneous and coordinated by corporate media. It is the frosting on the cake. trump goes out the hero - but more importantly he goes out. A trump martyrdom will also wipe away all the GOP crimes in one instant. Then the GOP can finally move on.
Farther into Conspiracy Land? What if he stages his death to get out of prison? A remote island sure beats Rikers. He is just the type of narcissist to think he could get away with it. How about .. he sneaks away on his private jet to leave the country - but then the plane disappears? Media speculates it is shot down.. trump gone. No trials. No jail. Two years later, if he can still talk.. he makes his return.
