Northern Gaza no longer has a functional hospital, WHO says

(snip)

"There are actually no functional hospitals left in the north," Richard Peeperkorn, WHO representative in Gaza, told reporters via video link from Jerusalem.

(snip)

"Until two days ago, it was the only hospital where injured people could get surgery in northern Gaza and that was overwhelmed with patients needing emergency care," he said.

"There are no operating theatres anymore due to the lack of fuel, power, medical supplies and health workers, including surgeons and other specialists."

The bodies of victims from recent Israeli attacks were lined up in the hospital's courtyard because they could not be given safe and dignified burials, he said.

The rest of your post is madness. If you are still not aware of who is doing it to Gaza, you are in denial.

That's what denial means. Israel didn't start this madness, Israel is not perpetuating this madness, Israel doesn't control this madness, and you know it.

but this arrogance, this parroting of the IDF, this disregard you have for anything Palestinian, this 'knowing' you have of other people's thoughts, is ridiculous...Israel is committing genocide, and you know it. There. How do you like it?

And I am not even talking about the Palestinian Jews, who also call themselves Israelis.

You are only paying attention to bias on one side, and you are excusing yours by hiding it behind outcries for compassion. At least I am being honest in my arrogance.

And, speaking of arrogance, I suggest you look up the definition of genocide before you volunteer your uninformed opinions.

Really, you know what I have done for the past 30 years? I've been an advocate for the Palestinians. You parrot the IDF.

My Jewish mother in law calls this genocide. I'm in my 60's and I've had the honor of speaking with Helen Thomas before she passed. You have no regard whatsoever for the Palestinians. My Jewish mil's father had a street named after him in Tel Aviv. My entire family of in-laws are horrified at the Israeli government's actions, and yes they have cousins etc. in Israel.

Tell me again how my opinions are 'uninformed'. Seems as if YOU are severely ill-informed.

While you have been advocating Palestinian causes, I have lived among Palestinian Arabs for the past 20 years (in the US). They are my neighbors. I see them on a regular basis. So you can bet your keffiyeh I have pretty high regard for my neighbors. And, to be sure, they reciprocate.

Do you really want to know why your opinions are uninformed? I doubt you do, but here is a hint: your grandmother and your in-laws are not a good source for accurate information about international law. Want to change my mind? Look up the legal definition of genocide (not the opinions of other ill-informed sources), and then tell me how it applies, or doesn't apply, to Israel. And then, if you still can't see how this definition confirms your bias, tell me why you only accuse Israel of it.

10. Confirming what bias?

My 97 year old Jewish mother in law is older than the State of Israel. We all very well know the meaning of genocide. She is horrified at Israel's actions, as are her children, one of whom is a Spiritual advisor at a Jewish rest home. I have Muslim friends, and we have several including some Syrians here on the island. There is no excuse for bombing homes, apartment buildings, infrastructure, hospitals, mass civilian casualties, shooting their own hostages waving white flags, white phosphorous bombs, imprisoning children, torturing and rape of those prisoners, spraying skunk water on Palestinian homes, calling them 'animals'. Denying food, water, fuel, electricity, collective punishment.

I do not have to justify anything to you who celebrates bombing hospitals and claims Hamas is literally everywhere so anyone and anyplace can be bombed with impunity.

You sound like an IDF spokesperson, really.

11. Your bias against Israel.

You keep singling Israel out for criticism in your advocacy for Palestinians. That's the definition of bias.

Your horror is justified, but not your bias. And, apparently, while your understanding of genocide is limited to the opinions of your immediate family, you are not interested in the legal definition of the term which controls its meaning. This signifies your bias as well: you have no regard for anything that would prove you wrong.

And for your information, Hamas is not everywhere. By the admission of their leadership, they deliberately situate themselves in areas of high concentration of civilians, including homes, apartment buildings, infrastructure, hospitals, and are denying them food, water, fuel, electricity, thus inflicting collective punishment on them. Where they are not, is on the battlefields away from civilian population, which is a war crime. You are in complete denial of this well established facts, and this is also a clear sign of your bias.

And why do you keep deflecting to IDF? I am not going to be dragged into getting defensive over your ridiculous accusations and deflections into the meaningless back and forth just to demonstrate to you how I do not sound like an IDF spokesman, or how I do not celebrate bombing hospitals and how I do not claim Hamas is literally everywhere so anyone and anyplace can be bombed with impunity. This is the classic strawman fallacy, where you pull accusations out of thin air to then attack me on the basis of your made-up accusations, and I am not biting.

So pick a better angle for defending your biases.

is hyperbolic fantasy. You keep saying I'm in denial, yet you deny Israel's actions. I'm clearly not anti-Israel. I'm clearly anti Israeli government actions. My in laws have deep ties to Israel. You have no idea of what you're claiming. You call me ill informed, yet you show how ill informed you are with this statement alone. I will tell J, my mother in law, about your comments - she's 97, loves Israel, and is sharp as a tack and is better informed than you can ever hope to be. There's a street in Tel Aviv that's named after her father, and another after her cousin, so tell me how I'm biased against Israel again.

What I am against is their treatment for the past several decades of the Palestinians... who were cleared off of their own land to make the State of Israel.

You are one of the gang that likes to run around and call people anti Israel, anti semites, Hamas supporters, etc. The history of this conflict is long and is not black and white, as you seem to see it.

How does stating the well established cause for their actions equal to denying these actions?

Keep building your strawmen and taking them down, and keep referring to your immediate family as the only authority you recognize in influencing your ill-informed opinions about international law.

And your reference to the history of this long conflict leads me to believe you are just as half-informed about that as you are about the current conflict. And I can pretty accurately guess which half you paid attention to and which half you ignored in its entirety.

you are yourself very ill informed. You have no idea about me.

If I lumped you in with a certain group here incorrectly, then I apologize about that. In college, back in 1980, history, philosophy, world affairs, etc. were my focus along with art. Military family, moved overseas and all over the US. I have followed all of this for over 30 years, so please do not tell me how ill informed I am, or question the views of my family. This is my third marriage, the first two passing of cancer.

We were all involved in world affairs, including this particular one.

What you made known was that your perception of the conflict is decidedly one-sided, and that you don't intend to consider the facts or the law to inform yourself as to why this is the case.

This is all I need to know to comment on your bias, and this is all that I am doing.

Otherwise, I am pretty sure you and your family are very nice and well meaning people, but I do not intend to get personal.
