sometimes, nature fucks up in the most extraordinary way. its nobodys fault. it just happens. Kate Cox is the mother of two children. she and her husband wanted a third, and so spoiler alert she became pregnant. good news, right? unfortunately, in this case, no because of that sometimes nature fucks up thing.
Kates fetus bears an extra copy of chromosome 18 a condition known as Trisomy 18. this syndrome causes a fetus to have multiple severe defects, to the heart, the brain, appendages and elsewhere. in most cases, such a fetus dies in utero and is stillbirthed, or is born and lives a few minutes or hours.
to add more horror to this story, if Kate brings her pregnancy to term, it will very likely damage her uterus ending her ability to have the third child she wants.
in a civilized country, Kate Cox would be free to terminate her pregnancy and try again but she doesnt live in a civilized country. she lives in America. even worse, she lives in the state of Texas.

This is an awesome rant by Jeff Tiedrich, including choice insults for the state of Texas and its corrupt Attorney General Ken Paxton. The only "good guy" in this story is the presiding judge, Travis County District Judge
Maya Guerra Gamble. Judge Gamble ruled in Kate Cox's favor and issued a restraining order, allowing her immediate abortion to proceed.
I certainly wish and hope for a safe, successful outcome to this story for Ms. Cox and her family. A hearty "fuck you" to AG Paxton and the state of Texas for its repressive anti-choice laws.
