He was one of the first Jan. 6 defendants to plead guilty to a felony. Now he wants to take it back.

The first person to be sentenced for a felony in the Jan. 6 Capitol attack now says he was bullied by his attorney into pleading guilty and would like to take it back.....

Paul Hodgkins, 38, was sentenced in July to eight months in prison after pleading guilty to one felony count of obstructing a joint session of Congress meeting to confirm the results of the 2020 president election. While he did not engage in violence, he carried a Trump flag onto the Senate floor after lawmakers had been forced to flee. A federal prosecutor had asked for an 18-month sentence, calling the riot “an act of terrorism.”...

The Justice Department has insisted that anyone who entered the Senate chamber on Jan. 6 plead guilty to a felony. Some defense attorneys had urged the others to hold out and see whether the government relented at the prospect of going to trial in hundreds of cases. But (the defendant's former attorney told his current attorney) that “the United States makes offers with a take it or leave it attitude.”

We now live in a country that seeks to cancel one another,” Leduc wrote. “It is the end state and the result of becoming a post-Christian society. A nation of citizens that have yet to experience Godly grace finds it next to impossible to give grace to each other. The result is that we have become a nation that no longer sees each other as brothers/sisters traveling in a disjointed and fallen world in need of each other’s support and generosity, but rather as potential enemies to be destroyed.”

The memo references the bloodshed of the American Civil War and Abraham Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address, drawing a comparison to the nation’s modern political divisions. It urges the court to emulate Lincoln, and “exercise grace and charity,” and to “restore healing.”

... that's some rhetorical excess!

Left out of the quoted sections above are details about his first lawyer, Leduc. He has been deployed with the Army reserves to Qatar, where he is helping process Afghan refugees. He claims that “My strategy paid off to Paul’s benefit. No other Federal defendant who is pleading to a felony will get a sentence better than Paul.”

The QAnon Shaman has just pleaded guilty to the same felony charge, and prosecutors estimated his sentence at 41 to 51 months.

So we shall see.

that it's all "god-less-ness" centered! In fact, I think it's because the majority of the world has lost touch with the feminine side of themselves... the nurturing, cooperative side, and instead have given in to the male patriarchal, testosterone fueled side of combativeness and competition that puts us in the place we're in right now. Where the answer to every question isn't "how can I help you" but rather, "what can I get out of this situation" and the better response is war for resources, if not for war's sake alone!

Although I have no proof it'd be any better, I'd sure love to give matriarchy a try for a while!
