What's keeping democracy experts up most at night? An overturned election

Pretty good read. The basics:

The new election laws being passed in red states will allow-
- Local or state officials to refuse to certify votes
- Governors and state legislatures to submit electoral votes that disagree with each other or overrule the apparent vote counts
- Fights over the legitimacy of judges overseeing the process
- State legislatures to use modest errors in election administration as an excuse to overturn the election - after having passed laws that created a network of choke points where these errors could be generated

Frankly, we're done. The American experiment has run its course. Time to move to Canada. They have their problems, too. But, it'll be the place to be as climate change really takes hold anyway.

The Justice Dept never did follow up on the warning letter they sent to Arizona about their illegal, "audit", so the contagion has spread like wildfire.

The only way the rethugs can stay in power--and increase it--is by cheating. Right now, the complete crazies are in the minority, even in their own party. We've already let them get too far.

But the tide of neo-Fascism won't stop at the US-Canadian border. Better to fight it here than wait for it to engulf the globe and bring us into a new Dark Age.

When your done with that read what Merrick Garland had to say about the suit brought against GA and more than likely other states.

NBC/msm has to keep up the fear so you’ll tune in. Not saying these laws aren’t a concern, they are. Many of them, or at least the most egregious parts will not stand in the courts. States wanting to dictate federal elections ...no.

Lots of info on voting rights activities and events in your area.

I agree, if tough voting rights laws aren’t passed by this fall, the American Experiment is likely over.
