Activists Plan to Carry Guns While Fishing at South Pointe Pier
BRITTANY SHAMMAS | OCTOBER 18, 2018 | 5:33PM

If you were planning on, say, enjoying a leisurely day at South Pointe Pier this Saturday, don't be alarmed when you see a crowd of people openly carrying Glocks.

Miami Beach City Manager Jimmy Morales today sent a letter warning the mayor and commission that an unknown number of gun-rights activists planned to fish from the pier with their guns on display. They also plan to carry their weapons where everybody can see them while walking a mile and-a-half to and from the 12th Street Garage despite the fact the city offered closer parking.

This, for some reason, is all legal under a state statute. That's the point that the stunt, organized by Florida Carry, is trying to make.

"The City Attorney's Office and the Miami Beach Police Department have been communicating with the organizer in an attempt to plan for this event," Morales wrote, "and the Police Department is preparing to accommodate the lawful activity of this group in a manner least likely to cause alarm to the public."

I want to go with 10 x their number... all of us with guns... drawn and pointed at them.

And when they object we tell them that we simply want to exercise our rights to stand our ground.

how "manly" they are. And you know that Trump is TRYING to get them to do what the Saudi's just did.

Turning the other cheek doesn't seem to be turning the heat down on these modern Nazi rallies.

6. I know what you mean. We had the "klan" march through town a few years ...

ago, no sheets but armed to the teeth. I watched the ten or twelve of them waddle thru town back and forth looking for their supporters: not a one.

I cat-called them from my studio window and they were obviously without a clue and nervous.

They finished out the day by burning a little cross on the mail box of group of PoC who had come here from Katrina and built a village living arrangement. These are really good people who are good dads and moms whose children work hard at school and at their jobs, I'd hire any one of them to work for or with me.

We just have to keep on keeping on, we don't need to be them to defeat them.

Drawing your firearms and pointing them at people open-carrying would get YOU arrested.

Besides, I'm pretty sure those guys would love an excuse to shoot someone and claim self defense.

I guess their side can break this law with impunity, but our side would be arrested.

BTW, he was drawing down on law enforcement in the photo.

11. "Drawn and Pointed"

Is markedly different than "holstered".

I lived in NYC and Washington DC most of my adult life. I now have been transplanted to very rural NM due to my children's concerns about me living alone as an increasingly old Jewish man in NYC (just google the recent attacks).

It's now not uncommon for me to see some grizzled rancher type with a pistol on his hip at Wal-Mart. It's part of the tools of their profession.

I don't have a problem with it.

But some pier? Strikes me as silly and immature.
