8 numbers out of Alabama that should terrify Republicans

http://www.cnn.com/2017/12/13/politics/alabama-exit-poll-analysis/index.html

1. Moore won only among old(er) voters
2. Moms walked away from Moore
3. Moderates fell for Jones
4. Trump approval was blah
5. Jones played Moore to a draw on values
6. The Democratic Party is more popular than the Republican party
7. Republicans are increasingly only a rural party
8. Black voters are incredibly energized

"Terrify" is a bit of a stretch but these are good indicators the party of Lincoln is no longer the party of the people.

1. Republicans should certainly be concerned.

Particularly with regard to Democrats being energized and motivated – when voter turnout is high, Republicans tend to lose.

3. 1 and 6 are a bigger deal

It means that we might be only a few years from a political reformation. There are a lot of 8-17 year olds that are getting the message about how terrible Trump is.

5. Attacking Medicare is not a good Republican Trump strategy.

Especially when your largest demographic of support are the elderly who are dying off.

11. Kudos! My 3 kids are one current Democratic voter and two future Democratic voters.

Eldest voted for a woman for president in his first ever presidential election. Middle child will be eligible to vote in the 2018 mid-terms. Youngest won't quite make the cut for the 2020 presidential election, but eager to make a difference in a swing state. Love these boys!

8. But what do millenials and youngers want?

There was a recent poll that showed a very high percentage of millennials reject both the Republican and Democratic parties. They favor a new third party. We need to make sure we’re also listening to their views to win them to our side.

13. They might be the ones to build a third party or to end one or both of the current ones

It can happen, particularly to the republicans since they are commonly seen as dishonest brokers.
