BLUEXIT: A Modest Proposal For Separating Blue States From Red

Hell of it is, the blue states will probably have to do this at some point....

We give up. You win. From now on, we’ll treat the animating ideal on which the United States was founded—out of many, one—as dead and buried.

We give up. You win. From now on, we’ll treat the animating ideal on which the United States was founded—out of many, one—as dead and buried. Federalism, true federalism, which you have vilified for the past century, is officially over, at least in spirit. You want to organize the nation around your cherished principle of states’ rights—the idea that pretty much everything except the U.S. military and paper currency and the national anthem should be decided at the local level? Fine. We won’t formally secede, in the Civil War sense of the word. We’ll still be a part of the United States, at least on paper. But we’ll turn our back on the federal government in every way we can, just like you’ve been urging everyone to do for years, and devote our hard-earned resources to building up our own cities and states. We’ll turn Blue America into a world-class incubator for progressive programs and policies, a laboratory for a guaranteed income and a high-speed public rail system and free public universities. We’ll focus on getting our own house in order, while yours falls into disrepair and ruin.

In short, we’ll take our arrogant, cosmopolitan, liberal-elite football—wait, make that soccer ball—and go home.

2. I have a BIG PROBLEM with that! I live in Georgia, but I've voted Dem. for 50 years!

I've tried to convince my neighbors that they should at least listen to all ideas, Pub, Dem, and Ind. They don't want to hear it! Most respond "My mom & Daddy voted Repub and I do the same."

I don't want the Dems to abandon all the Dems who unfortunately live in a Red State. I would move, but I'm 75, our house is paid for, and I realistically can't just up & move to another State. I'll keep on fighting for Dem ideas, but please help me wi some Pubs over instead of giving up and letting the Red States go to hell.

Blue states will create good jobs, provide health care, offer security, and a nice standard of living.

Once we do, the other states will want what we have, and that is when we get real progress on a national level.

Of course I wouldn't bet too much on the red states wanting to follow their lead no matter how beneficial it is. Here in Iowa, for example, there are too many people who would cut off their noses to spite their faces. Witness the elections of people like Ernst, Branstad, King, Grassley, and so on.

in our area is as red as you'll find anywhere, and they don't even know why. Closest I could find to an excuse was "Mama & Daddy always voted Repub, so have I."

along with Hawaii, Nevada, and possibly Colorado and New Mexico.

While we work to strengthen our commitment to each other in these states, we can reduce the amount we contribute to the Trump States, and abandon them with a policy of "benign neglect." Let them experience on their own what they want to force upon the rest of us.

benefit and not ship it off to red states. Blue states can have single-payer, great education and repair infrastructure if they take the red states off the dole. And before anyone exhibits "liberal guilt" - this is what the red states say they want.

Climate change doesn't respect borders, and the CO2 emitted from red states who don't give a fuck about the environment will keep the seas rising.
