by Robert Reich:'The fact that the CIA has concluded that Russia intervened in the 2016 election
'to help Donald Trump win the presidency bears on the upcoming decision of the Electoral College about whether Donald Trump becomes our next president.
The framers of the Constitution intended that the Electoral College guard against the possibility that a foreign power influences the outcome of a presidential election. In Federalist No. 68, Alexander Hamilton wrote that a major purpose of the Electoral College was to stop the desire in foreign powers to gain an improper ascendant in our councils. He said that the College would Guard against all danger of this sort
with the most provident and judicious attention from the electors.
The Electors of 2016 should take careful note.'

(475 posts)The media would end up covering out-of-context snippets that got picked up by Fox and co. I went through a lot of them myself and the worst I could find was the campaign had made a bunch of infographic memes about Trump and spread them on the dl.

(475 posts)Is so that the states (imaginary geographical lines) don't get superseded by large population centers (by the fact that more US citizens live there).
They think that the higher the population density or location of said population, the less those people should matter, favoring the opinions of economy-lacking wastelands with fewer people. Hell, most Trump voters just flat out say that California's votes shouldn't matter.

(4,546 posts)just like most of the crap they want to think is true. They are trying to equate the reason for the numbers in the House and Senate with the Electoral College. The EC exists to protect us from THIS. It was never intended to give their dumb asses a bigger voice. That is just wrong.
