Who sent Anne Frank and her family to the death camps - denunciator unmasked?

It took 70 years to solve this historic case. In 1944, the young Anne Frank, writer of a world renowned diary, was betrayed and delivered for deportation to the death camps with her family.

In a book published Tuesday, April 7, two Flemish investigators, Jeroen de Bruyn and Joop van Wijk, revealed the identity of the informant .... or rather the denunciator of Anne Frank.

She is said to be a sister of Elisabeth Voskuijl (Bep), the person who lent a hand to the Jewish family when they lived in hiding in the Annex in Amsterdam. She supposedly revealed the ingenious hideout to the Nazis.

During their research, the two men discovered that Nelly Voskuijl (1923-2001), Elisabeth's younger sister, had collaborated with the Nazis from 19 to 23 years old. "And, the painful but clear conclusion is that we can now add Nelly to the long list of suspects," write the two biographers.

The authors base their conclusions in particular on the testimony of Diny Voskuijl, the third sister, and Bertus Hulsman, Elisabeth Voskuijl's fiancé.

So far, many hypotheses have emerged on the internet. The traitor who is responsible for the deportation of the Frank family to a German concentration camp is not officially known.

According to records, only Bep Voskuijl and his father Johan Voskuijl were aware of the hideout located along the Princes Amsterdam canal.

Bep had worked as a clerk in one of Otto Frank businesses and provided food and clothing to people who lived in hiding. His father had made the door of the now famous library that hid the entrance to the shelter.

Anne Frank told her story in a diary. Found by her father, the only survivor after the Second World War, the Journal was published and the book has been translated into more than 70 languages. Some 30 million copies have been sold and it has given rise to many theatre plays and films.
