Time magazine's 2014 Person of the Year: Ebola fighters
Source: NBC News
Time magazine has selected the Ebola fighters, who have fought to contain the deadliest Ebola outbreak in history, as its 2014 Person of the Year.
The title, according to the magazine, goes to an individual or group who, for better or worse, has had the biggest impact on the world and the news over the course of the previous year.
"Its an incredible honor," Dr. Kent Brantly, medical missions advisor for Samaritan's Purse and the first American to be affected with the virus, said Wednesday on TODAY of the shared title.
"Those who paid the highest price for their service are themselves West Africans. Its an honor for me to be considered as a part of that group."

Very well deserved. The fact that they were there in the first place is worthy of awards alone.

to represent the Ebola fighters.
Good choice.
Putting a white male on the cover is now a basis for giving them "some crap"?

(32,179 posts)They have not had the "biggest impact on the world and the news" by any measure. Ebola has had only an impact in selected countries of west Africa, not the world at all. The doctors, unfortunately, have not had much of an impact even in those countries. In most cases Ebola has abated due to killing those infected to the point no one else can be.
This is a feel-good selection as most the Time selections have been over the last 10-15 years.
