Duckworth leads 8th Congressional District Democratic primary
Source: Chicago Tribune
Iraq war veteran Tammy Duckworth is winning tonight in a northwest suburban Democratic primary.
Vote totals are rolling in from the Cook County portion of the 8th Congressional District, and Duckworth has 62 percent of the vote to 38 percent for Raja Krishnamoorthi, a former deputy state treasurer. About 25 percent of the vote is in, most of it from Cook County.
The two are vying for the right to challenge Republican Rep. Joe Walsh, the conservative firebrand known best for railing against President Barack Obama. Walsh is seeking re-election on mostly new turf in northwest Cook and northeast DuPage counties.
