Ukraine's ousted president puts blame on CIA

Source: AP-Excite

MOSCOW (AP) - Ukraine's ousted president has accused the CIA of being behind the new Ukrainian government's decision to deploy armed forces to quash an increasingly brazen pro-Russian insurgency.

Speaking late Sunday on Russian state television, Viktor Yanukovych claimed that CIA director John Brennan had met with Ukraine's new leadership and "in fact sanctioned the use of weapons and provoked bloodshed."

There was no independent confirmation that Brennan was in Ukraine or in any way involved in the decision to send troops to eastern Ukraine, where armed pro-Russia men have seized a number of government buildings.

Yanukovych was ousted in February following months of protests in Kiev, the capital, that were ignited by his decision to back away from closer relations with the European Union and turn toward Russia. He fled to Russia, saying he feared for his life.

in Crimea. Edit to add: wonder if there is any credence to the claim Brennan is over there, and why would the visible head of the CIA blow the CIA's cover if indeed they have anything to do with anything? Makes no sense.

as we speak), they wouldn't draw attention to it, IMO--they'd use lower-level unrecognizable agents. If they wanted to draw attention to it, Brennan would just go and not use another name. Not plausible. Will need to see it in a credible source.

Why on earth would Brennen need to physically be in Ukraine in order to be involved?

The Brennan visit seems a bit contrived to me.

12. Not at all - Biden's is a goodwill visit and it shows that the US is interested in good relations

with them. It is a state visit - essentially one step down from Obama coming.

In a like way, Kerry making a trip where he publicly walked down streets and had a press conference - at a point where Russia was alleging complete chaos in Kiev had the purpose of showing graphically that their claims - at least in downtown Kiev were not true.

Unlike the President, the VP, the SoS, and the US ambassador, Brennan does not have a diplomatic role in another country. There are NATO conferences and other international conferences he attends, but it would not be likely that he would personally be unannounced in Kiev.

whatever spetnaz is called these days. Putin is laying claim to "greater Russia" as he has been talking about for years. The world must come together to stop this out-of-control dictator

We have the technology. We have the capability... Better, stronger, faster...

Wait, that's the bionic man. He was nuke powered, too. Sadly, he was downgraded to just being a stunt man.

How the mighty have fallen. We're not living up to the image people want to see:

''

Or are we?

We have to be fit into that template somehow or people won't know what to think. Taking allusions away is harder than getting a dog to give up his favorite chew toy.

Will a rousing chorus of USA! USA! USA! satisfy those who want to maintain a sense of being offended?

I'd rather we remember who we're really up against, at home and internationally:

Reich = Right.

Hey, just sayin'
